Artist Gordon Huether, born in 1959 in Rochester, NY, specializes in public art works that are site-specific and large scale. He has completed over 70 public art commissions across the US, including in Arizona, Utah, California, North Carolina, Texas, Florida, and more, and received recognitions from Americans for the Arts, American Society of Interior Designers, and more. He created this sculpture in front of the Midwest Police Station of the Houston Police Department that overall measures 20 feet tall. The sculpture is made of three parts, two of which are rectangular panels of powder-coated steel that stand beside each other. The panel on the left is yellow and cut with the phrase “JUSTICE WITH MERCY” while the panel on the right, which is also taller, is blue and cut with the phrase “ORDER THROUGH LAW.” Behind the panels is a stainless semi-circle pole whose curves reflect the phrases, giving the panels a more three-dimensional effect. Huether stated the sculpture, “represents the values of the Houston Police Department,” and “speaks [ ] to the purpose of the facility…”

Creó esta escultura en frente de la Comisaría del Medio Oeste del Departamento de Policía de Houston que mide 6 metros de altura.
