Throughout the Houston Permitting Center are a series of small artworks painted by hand in various sizes, fonts, and contexts. Each of the pieces were created with a zero VOC paint, an eco-friendly paint with no volatile organic compounds, no odor, and releases fewer contaminants into the environment. The artworks show phrases, conversations, and thoughts that are common to the building, thematically ranging from funny to encouraging for visitors and workers. For example, one piece is painted at a ceiling corner and states “It was a small adjustment” with the “-ment” slightly lower than “adjust.” As well, each artwork is made in a different style, such as speech and thought bubbles, like comics, or figures, like a sign. Some pieces are painted as sticky notes, one stating “Have a GREAT day!!!” while another asks “What’s your SITUS?” Situs refers to where something is located for legal purposes, such as property. Part of a series of nine artworks, Mary Margaret Hansen organized a team of local artists and designers to reveal the purpose and function of the building through art. In this case, it seems to be highlighting the humanity present in phrases, emotions, and actions that occur in the permitting center.

En el Centro de Permisos de Houston se encuentran una serie de pequeñas obras de arte pintadas a mano en diversos tamaños, tipografías, y contextos. Cada obra se creó con pintura de cero COV, una pintura ecológica sin compuestos orgánicos volátiles, sin olor, y con menor emisión de contaminantes al medio ambiente. Las obras muestran frases, conversaciones, y reflexiones comunes al edificio, con temáticas que van desde lo divertido hasta lo alentador para visitantes y trabajadores. Por ejemplo, una obra está pintada en una esquina del techo y dice en inglés “It was a small adjustment” (“Fue un pequeño ajuste” en español) con el “-ment” ligeramente más abajo que “adjust.” Además, cada obra de arte tiene un estilo diferente, como bocadillos de diálogo y pensamiento, como cómics, o figuras, como letreros. Algunas obras están pintadas como notas adhesivas: una dice "¡Que tengas un excelente día!" mientras que otra pregunta "¿Cuál es tu SITUS?" Situs se refiere a la ubicación legal de algo, como una propiedad. Como parte de una serie de nueve obras de arte, Mary Margaret Hansen organizó un equipo de artistas y diseñadores locales para revelar el propósito y la función del edificio a través del arte.
