Catherine Martinez is a visual artist based in Houston, Texas, specializing in mixed media sculpture using metals, fibers, and mold-making techniques. Her work often abstractly represents significant moments in the African diaspora, exploring themes of race and ethnicity. Catherine's art aims to express emotions that cannot be contained within oneself.
She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and holds an MFA in Sculpture from the same institution. In 2023, Catherine was honored as a Project Row Houses Round 55 Artist. She is also a contributing artist to the "We Here Black Women's Arts Collective" and the founder of the "Road Trip Collective."
