Julia McLaurin is an enthusiastic artist, photographer and sculptor based in Houston, Texas.
Born in New York, she moved to Texas at the age of 5. She started her art at a young age at the
Glassell School of Art in Houston. She obtained an undergraduate degree and Masters in
Psychology and Biology at the University of Texas and the University of Houston.
In addition to studying science and psychology, McLaurin always found herself drawn back to
art and visual expression. McLaurin began experimenting with photomontage, enhanced by her
early training in 4-color printing processes. But her true passion was ceramics and 3D arts. Her
artwork is best known for combining vintage and modern imagery with whimsical and fanciful
ideas. She draws inspiration from the playful, colorful side of life.
Julia is passionate about bringing the beauty of the world from ordinary to the surreal. Today,
she is a full-time artist, photographer, creative visionary and lover of all things pop art. Her
works continue to grow in size, scale and ability to reach the joy and appreciation within us all.
McLaurin, her husband and three children still call Houston home.
