David Medina (Mexican American, b. 1973) David Medina was born in San Antonio, Texas. He received an MFA from the University of Houston in 2002 after studying sculpture as an undergraduate at both the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He has studied as the studio assistant to Luis Jimenez (Hondo, New Mexico) and Joseph Havel (Houston, Texas).

His work has been shown in many exhibitions, including a solo show at Devon Borden Gallery in conjunction with PrintHouston; and group exhibitions at Hiram Butler Gallery, Houston, Texas; Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, San Antonio, Texas; and the Dallas Center for Contemporary Art, Dallas, Texas. Additionally, Medina’s work is included in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the City of Houston’s public art collection. He has been on faculty at the Glassell School of Art and was Department Head of Sculpture from 2016-2019.

He currently lives and works in the Texas Hill County.
