Jamie Spinello creates abstract botanical sculptures using paper, plastic, glass, clay, and metal informed by the underlying geometries and structures of plants and insects. Her sculptures range from small paper and plastic maquettes measuring a few inches in size all the way up to larger monumental works in aluminum. She experiments with the modular potential of botanical and insect forms. She examines botanical elements for their most basic geometric forms and translates them into components that lock together and can scale to any size.
