David Reinfeld, born in New York in 1952, once had a career as a physicist before becoming a full-time photographer. He has photographed trees for over 50 years. Upon visiting Houston for the first time, Reinfeld learned of the Live Oak trees native to the city. Here is one of his photographs, taken in 2018, of a Live Oak that is printed on aluminum through a dye-sublimation process where heat is used to transfer dye onto a surface. Measuring two-and-a-half feet high and nearly four feet wide, the image shows two large branches of a live oak. Note the detail of the leaves, bark, and twigs, as well as the dreamy colors that look slightly blurred or faded. Reinfeld said: “I love everything about trees- the trunk, the branches, the leaves, the shapes & textures & color, and the way the light filters through.” Live Oak trees mature around 50-70 years and grow around three feet a year in their youth. Live Oaks can grow 30-80 feet in height, and their branches spread horizontally before going upwards, as seen in this image.

Durante su primera visita a Houston, Reinfeld descubrió los robles vivos (Live Oak) que son nativos a la ciudad. Aquí se presenta una de sus fotografías, tomada en 2018, de un roble vivo.
