William M. McVey (American, Jul. 12, 1905 - May 30, 1995) William M. McVey was a sculptor that lived in the Houston area and attended Rice University in the 1920's and worked in Houston during later decades. He was known for many pieces including the Davy Crockett Memorial in Ozona, TX, the bronze George Washington in Cleveland, OH and at the Rice University Campus for the Hanszen and Will Rice College carved panels. McVey sculpted Rolling Bear Cubs between 1936 and 1939. The finished sculpture was installed on the grounds of the J. R. Partin residence in Houston.
