Rose spent most of her early life in and around Milwaukee, Wisconsin, including completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Art History from the University of Wisconsin in 2008. She also lived in Portland, Oregon, and Austin, Texas, before she moved to Houston to devote herself to her work. Rose holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Houston, where she received a Graduate Teaching Fellowship and Probst Award. Most recently, she accepted the Media and Moving Image Teaching Prize for Innovated Uses of Media in 2021, after successfully adapting and combining technologies with traditional media. She currently lives and works in Houston and is Affiliate Art Faculty in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Houston. Her works, including painting, watercolor, and sculpture, explore the boundaries of image and representational interpretation, combining elements of various cultural, social, and political imagery with stark expressions of emotion. She is primarily known as an acrylic painter.
